We are all well averse about the “Indian Time” where attending late to functions is considered “OK” and “Acceptable”….. BUT not anymore! Indian foreigners (Indians living abroad) don’t think like this and are agitated when their own family/friends attend their wedding functions LATE. Here’s why it is no longer acceptable:
1. Looks like you are literally coming for dinner. So are you really just going for the food? That is sad. Bride-Grooms have selected individuals to attend their functions, to be a part of the EVENT, not just because your favourite catering company will be providing food.
2. Don’t care about the bridal couple. Attending late is a SIGN that you do not care about the bride-groom or value time. Indian weddings are fundamental about ‘timings’ with ALL religious rituals, ironic isn’t it?
3. But I was busy. This is a tricky one, because we do agree there are some reasons that make it ok, but there are several that really don’t seem justifiable. Running late because your hair or make up took longer – is just not good enough.
It is a frustrating time for bridal families and as much as they may say “it’s ok aunty for being late,” it really isn’t. Point of this post, stop being late to weddings, it is RUDE!
So until next time, Ciao!
