With several brands of foundation and colours, it can all get a little confusing…SO we can help you choose your right foundation, so here’s our secret tips!
1. Never choose foundations based on ‘age-defying’ or ‘skin firming’ (etc) slogans! You cannot defy age with foundations, so make sure you choose a foundation based on your skin type, which is either; oily, dry or combination.
2. Check the colour of foundation closest to your skin complexion by a test patch on either the inside of your wrist or your chin line..You may like to keep two foundation colours – one for winter when your skin becomes lighter (generally) and for summer when you are likely to get a tan. Also, all make up has its’ “use by” dates so ensure you aren’t using the same foundation for years! (Or any make up in that case!)
3. Choosing a powder or liquid form of foundation is dependent on your skin type, so if you have dry skin, avoid using powders which will look flaky…If you use an oil based foundation, you can dust a little powder on top, but be careful not to overdo this, or you will look ‘ghostly’ in photos. A particular brand may also not have your colour, so check out other brands, some of our favourite companies for foundation are Bobby Brown, Mac & Chanel.
Lastly, ensure you use make up in a well lighted area – natural sunlight is the best so that you don’t look ‘caked on’!
Good luck foundation shopping ladies!
